Have you ever woken up on Monday morning dreading your monotonous life? Getting up, rushing to work, staring at a computer screen for 8 hours, checking social media on the commute home, eating dinner, watching Netflix, and going to bed. Only to get up and do it all over again the next day. We are creatures of habit and we’ve all got them, some of them cap our ability to live a full, connected and meaningful life. Think about your habits in a day, where do they come from?

A few months ago, I realized I was waking up anxious and dreading my morning routine. It looked like – Wake up to Christopher crying, rushing to shower him, pack his bag, chug down my coffee, pack us both in the car and speed to the sitter. It felt yucky and rushed. I wasn’t connecting with myself, my son or anything really just hanging on to the anxiousness of it being over. My thoughts of hating mornings were leading to my demise. I had to decide, “was this the routine I wanted my very impressionable son to be part of?”

I reminded myself that my words lead to thoughts, which lead to my beliefs, which lead to my behaviors. It is true for all of us, our thoughts are our beliefs, which are our behaviors. I needed a serious thought shift so I could step into a more meaningful Monday morning because Monday holds the standard for the rest of the week.  What thoughts and behaviors would you like to start your week with? I created some simple and beautiful affirmations that you can use in your life or on those Mondays that seem particularly hard. They are my gift to you.

Taking a few moments in the morning to read an enriching quote or affirmation can set your whole day up for success. Your thoughts matter and decide your life.
